Sometimes you just have to give thanks where a big thank you is due. So, thank you to our good old American beauty pageants who keep putting out wonderful titleholders dedicated to saving the world, or quite frankly our asses, from walking blindly into a world of uncertainty. Leading that pack of heroines is Miss Richfield 1981 (created by Russ King) who year in and year out brings to a stage in a city, a parking lot, a backyard weenie roast, or anywhere folks interested in gaining an upper hand to surviving our alleged peril will gather. It has been a few years, with all the Orbitz commercials and attention to the well-being of gay cruise passengers, since Miss Richfield has been to San Francisco. But, we need not worry any longer! Miss Richfield 1981 will be at Oasis (SF Nitey Award Winner 2017) April 13-15 to share with us much needed survival joy through her new show 2020 Vision: A Survival Guide To The New World. Being apart of Miss Richfield’s tight knit inner circle, I was able to dial her up for a quick Q & A before she hopped on that bus headed cross country from Richfield, Minnesota to our City on the Bay.
BEBE: It’s been 3 years since you were last in San Francisco. What has been the biggest thing to happen in your life that you can’t wait to let us in on?

MISS RICHFIELD 1981: I no longer wear make up! I’m going for that natural look that Mrs. Trump III is making so popular! Following in the steps of the First Lady always keeps me current!

Is it just because you are a long-standing Miss Richfield titleholder that you want to save the world, or have you always pledged your dedication to mankind?

It’s common knowledge that any beauty titleholder will offer to save the world! It’s one of the two answers we’re taught to give in all beauty pageants – the other is anything about Jesus. So it seemed a natural fit for my new quality production, not to mention we could be on the verge of Armageddon, so that helps.

Your latest show 2020 Vision: A Survival Guide To The New World implies the world we knew has changed. How so?

Well for starters, I think this is the first time we’ve elected a President who is one of the secondary colors. It’s taking me a bit of time to get used to this, as I’ve never been a big fan of orange since the Anita Bryant days – sadly one beauty queen who went terribly awry. But on a positive note, this could be the moment when Reality TV actually becomes reality for all of us. Can the Housewives of the Beverly Hills be the next judges on the Supreme Court? Will the boys of Duck Dynasty be heading up education? When are we going to see a good old-fashioned cat fight in the Oval Office? With Kellyanne’s feet on the sofa, you know that’s coming!

Since we are such old…. I mean good friends, can you give me just one quick survival tip before arriving to San Francisco so I can stay one step ahead of the scavengers out there?

I’m fortunate to have come from a long line of survivors, largely due to wise words handed down from one Richfield generation to the next. For example, a survival tip from my mother: “You can lose your money, you can lose your lipstick, and you can lose your dignity, but if you pack a smile in your handbag, you’ll always be able to find a trucker to give you a ride home!”

You travel so much week in and week out, how do you keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the world when keeping track of what time zone you’re in can itself be a challenge?

Miss Richfield 1981

The biggest help is my Pamprin with codeine, which makes time zones irrelevant. I also keep a roll of quarters in my handbag so I can watch TV in the bus depot. But to be completely honest, traveling makes it most difficult to find love. I don’t know if you’re aware, but most single gals in my stage of life are more likely to be killed by a terrorist, than find a boyfriend. So next year, I’ll be relocating to Iraq to better my chances.

Do you think there will ever be a time when your work will be done and you will have enlightened us about as much as you can?

Actually that already happened about 7 years ago when I emceed a horse semen auction in Phoenix. I remember thinking, “Wow, I think I’m done!” But the gals at my church in Richfield keep buying me bus tickets to go someplace else. It’s amazing, but every time I get home, there, on the screen door of my trailer, is another bus ticket to go some place else. Their love and support is really touching!

What do you hope the people of San Francisco will walk away with after seeing your shows April 13-15 at Oasis?

I want them to leave saying, “I should have paid a dollar more for that ticket!” After all, my new 2020 Vision show has new music, new videos, new chatter, and most importantly a new message for our new world! I want to offer people a message of hope– or at least survival! You know Armageddon is not an easy topic to cram into an hour, but I’ve done it and created a fun, toe-tapping look at the end of the world. It’s also always a bonus when I remember the words to the songs! So please invite neighbors, co-workers, friends or enemies! Just think about who deserves it, and bring them along!

MISS RICHFIELD 1981 appears in NEW show 2020 Vision: A Survival Guide To The New World April 13-15 at OASIS in SF. for Tix and info.

Dominique Young Unique ft. Lemon Perfects Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion”

Dominique Young Unique
Dominique Young Unique

It’s been a minute since her 2014 Throw It Down single, and her features on Top 10 UK dance chart hits Earthquake (DJ Fresh Vs. Diplo) and Dance With Me ( Le Youth) during the same period, but DOMINIQUE YOUNG UNIQUE is making her presence known again. This time with a remix/remake of Lady Gaga’s recent release Perfect Illusion with a little help from vocalist Lemon.

Gaga’s Perfect Illusion hasn’t even done a slow death and artists are remixing the hell out of the song, giving it the life it was missing in its original form. Dominique’s rap about a love that done her wrong is the realist and will definitely help the song find life on floors of urban and hip hop clubs.

Welcome back DYU! We’re ready for more.

Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion” Gets Trap’d By The Watchmen

Currently sitting at #69 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Charts, Lady Gaga’s Perfect Illusion has been receiving quite a bit of remix treatment from music producers out there of various genres to much delight, I’m sure, by the Lady in hopes that it keeps the fast descending single on the charts.

I came across an unofficial remix by The Watchmen (Sandeep / Steve Mig)  that definitely breathes some much needed life into Perfect Illusion that I’m sure will catch the ear of many party spinning DJs out there with its Trap Remix treatment.  Take a listen.

Jake Biondi to release 6th installment of his best-selling ‘BOYSTOWN’ series

Jake Biondi to release sixth installment
of his best-selling ‘BOYSTOWN’ series on December 16*
‘BOYSTOWN Season Six’ cover reveal scheduled for November 16
‘BOYSTOWN’ series author Jake Biondi has revealed the release date for the highly-anticipated sixth book of his ‘BOYSTOWN’ series.  ‘BOYSTOWN Season Six’ will be released on December 16, 2016.  The cover for the book, which will once again be designed by photographer James Franklin, will be revealed on November 16, 2016.

“The wait is nearly over,” Biondi told fans of his ‘BOYSTOWN’ book series.  “Due to the amazing success of the first five books in the series, fans from all over the world have been asking me when the sixth book will be released.  They want to know what’s coming next for their favorite characters and couples.  Their questions are about to be answered.”
BOYSTOWN: Series Five cover art by photographer James Franklin

Biondi added, “I am so grateful for my readers and their positive response to the series.  I regularly receive notes from fans who are connecting with the characters and want to know what the future holds for them.  The broad appeal of the book series is incredible.  ‘BOYSTOWN’ has a really diverse audience.”

Biondi promises that readers won’t be disappointed.  “’Season Six’ picks up right where book five left off and includes the deaths of some major characters.  While I won’t reveal who lives or who dies, I will say this: lives and relationships will be forever changed.”  Biondi also previews that ‘BOYSTOWN Season Six’ continues the storylines from the first five books while introducing new ones — and some hot new characters, too.
The ‘BOYSTOWN’ series has a fascinating history.  It began as an online story released in installments, each ending with a cliffhanger that left readers wondering what would happen to their favorite characters.  Enthusiastic ‘BOYSTOWN’ fans from all over the world petitioned Biondi to release the installments more quickly; they simply couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.   Overwhelmed by and grateful for the fans’ responses to the series, Biondi began to write more quickly.
In 2013, Biondi published the first ten ‘episodes’ in book form as ‘BOYSTOWN Season One.’  ‘BOYSTOWN Season Two’ was released in July of 2014; ‘BOYSTOWN Season Three’ was released in May of 2015; ‘BOYSTOWN Season Four’ was released on November 13, 2015; and ‘BOYSTOWN Season Five’ was released on June 1, 2016. Now, ‘BOYSTOWN Season Six’ answers readers’ questions and, of course, provides even more twists and turns for fans.

Like the first five books, ‘BOYSTOWN Season Six’ will be available at bookstores across the country as well at online at,, and itunes.  The series is available in paperback, audio book, and all e-book formats.  Readers may order autographed paperback copies of the books directly from  ‘Season Six’ is currently available for pre-order on Kindle and iTunes.
Biondi will reveal the book cover of ‘BOYSTOWN Season Six’ on November 16.
Biondi is currently working with television producers Gabe Fiscale and Weston Mueller, who are interested in bringing the ‘BOYSTOWN’ series to television.  Biondi remains optimistic that fans all over the world will soon be able to watch their favorite ‘BOYSTOWN’ characters in action on television.

WeHo’s Derek Jameson Makes Universal Music Group Apart of His Tribe

By BeBe Sweetbriar

Calling Los Angeles his home now, recording artist/songwriter Derek
Jameson has always been a “California Kid” being a native of the Bay
Area. Not unlike many Californians who seem to be big dreamers with
a zealousness for living freely, Derek’s life philosophies of inspiration
and determination are often reflected in the lyrics of his songs
whether they be ballads or club-worthy dance songs. Since the
independent release of his debut album TImelines Vol 1: Space and
Vol 2: Time, Derek’s music collections have always been released as a
mix of dance and piano vocal songs. His newest album Our Future
follows in that same pattern, and is his first album to be

released under his new distribution deal with Universal Music Group,

the largest music corporation in the world and home to record labels

such as Capitol, Def Jam, Island, Interscope, Def Jam, Virgin and so
many more. A tireless performer over the years, his deal with
Universal will get Derek’s music into the ears of so many more
people. I spent some time speaking with Derek Jameson about the
music on Our Future Tribe, that his new music deal means for and to
him, writing for other projects and what is to happen next.

BeBe: Your new album Our Future Tribe is your first release with
your new distribution deal with Universal Music Group. And like with
other songs you have independently released before, the songs on
this album carry your signature messages of inspiration and pushing
oneself to reach higher heights. But these aren’t just not just words,
you live this.

Derek Jameson: Yes, that’s what Our Future Tribe is all about. It’s
about connecting with people and building from there. Everyone has
their team around them that has helped them reach their different
points in life. I’m so lucky to have such a big team that surrounds me
and is so supportive. They are my personal tribe.

BeBe: What does reaching this point in your career with your new
distribution and marketing deal mean to and for you?

Derek Jameson
Derek Jameson

Derek Jameson: I get to reach a wider audience with this deal. This
is definitely a step in the right direction. Over the years I have had
people not live up to their promises and deals, but I have pushed
those off and kept pushing through. It is amazing to kknow people on
the business side are paying attention to what I’m doing. It means to
me that the work that I’ve put in has been noticed. It feels good!

BeBe: When signing with a major record company has being a gay
artist ever been a topic of conversation?

Derek Jameson: Not really. Something like that doesn’t really come
up. It’s more about the music. Once you start putting out solid
projects, it all speaks for itself. So, (being gay) hasn’t been an issue
at all.

BeBe: The lead single from your album is California Kid which you
performed at your release party on September 28 at Hollywood’s Bar
Lubitsch. It is a wonderful ballad with piano, but I am so in love with the
Nautical Mix of the track on the album. You have been real fortunate
to have been able to turn many of your ballads into some pretty hot
dance tracks.

Derek Jameson: Thank you. The Nautical Mix of California Kid was
actually done by me. I wanted it to have a chill-out House element to

BeBe: You have another song on Our Future Tribe that was originally
intended for the NoH8 campaign. What happened there?

Derek Jameson: The NoH8 Campaign asked if I would be interested
in writing a song that would essentially be their theme song. I said, of
course. So, I went to work on what is no Waves. I was real proud of
the lyrics because it is about people who are leading the pack and
pave the way, and go beyond fear in order to make change. I wrote it
with the purpose of showing people that they are not alone even
when it seems like they are. There are others going through the same
thing they are and they can draw from them. As it got closer to
finishing the project and releasing it to NoH8, I decided to keep the
song for myself for personal reasons. I had put so much into it. I put

Derek Jameson

it on this album so it ould be accessible to people. It still holds the
purpose of why I wrote it.

BeBe: As with NoH8, other organizations, film and TV producers
have also approached you to have one or more of your songs in their
projects. Does that affect your songwriting?

Derek Jameson: Most of the songs I have been approached about
have been previously written. They were heard and then someone
wanted them for their projects. I have found a way, I guess, to write
about something that is important for me to say and put in a song in
a way that is popular. It’s cool that I’ve found that balance here
people will want to use my songs for projects, and keep the integrity
of my in-depth songwriting.

BeBe: So what’s on the horizon for you following this release of Our

California Kid by Derek Jameson

Future Tribe

Derek Jameson: There are two projects in the works right now
where one of them will take me to Asia. If that happens, it would
open up my market so much.

Derek Jameson’s Our Future Tribe can be found on iTunes and all other major online outlets.
